Cindy's Exclusive Yarn Club
Here is January's inspiration photo! The colorway is HOAR FROST.
We offer subscriptions in 3 and six month terms.
She has so many ideas floating around in her head. Her desk is full of scrawled notes of fleetingbursts of inspiration. She sends Instagram posts, snaps from real life, book quotes and ideas at all hours of the day and night. Her brain NEVER STOPS creating formulas.Â
We held back a tiny batch of undyed yarn for her to play with. Aside from the colors you've grown to love, the classic hues that will hold the test of time and become the heirlooms our fiber is worthy of. The safe bets.
But what if YOU had the chance to get access to her Dye Pots before anyone else? The colors that MIGHT become colors. Like the concept pieces of the Paris Fashion Week Runway shows that never make it to the ready-to-wear racks. The works of art that inspire the trends.
Except sustainable. True to our values. Natural.Â

SWEATER BAGS ARE BACK!
Cindy Stands with an ARMFUL of recently finished bags
L to R-
Buffalo Plaid, Chester Brown, Black&Natural, Jacks Work Coat, Fence Gate Grey, Big Green Tractor, Denim & Squash
Sherry's Sweater bag was designed four and a half years ago when I learned to knit at a time when we had to travel exhaustively. It's why I took up knitting in fact, a project I could do on a plane to still keep a part of my creative self. I've since designed about 6 iterations and this is the result of the best details of tweaking the design over and over again.Â
It's the perfect bag to fit an adult sweater project and all the skeins needed to produce it. Each pocket was thoughtfully designed, from a short pocket for Tuft hand balm, one for your stitch counter and one for a folded pattern. It holds pencils & needles and everything you might need. Including chocolate. It's tall enough to hold the majority of a bottle of wine. Just sayin.Â

Farm to Skein - what's that?
What exactly is this sheep to skein thing?
It's a popular verbiage for wool listings and the definition can be as loose as a twisted hank of yarn. Here's what it means to us.
We do this ourselves. We're it. It's the Mitchell family, from smallest to tallest that feeds and snuggles the flock, mucks the barn and stacks their hay. We move the fences so they can rotationally graze our land to benefit both their tummies and our chunk of the planet in the old way that nature intended. We assisted their births at three am and when they meet their end as sometimes has to happen on a farm like it or not, we're there then too. We care about this mission from the depths of our soul. It's For Flocks Sake, always.
We dye only with natural botanicals, because that matters to us and to the planet. Our used dye-matter becomes either compost or FEED. It's that safe. Our local mill is 4th generation family owned and we buy our hay from the neighbor. This smaller carbon footprint matters to us, and we hope it matters to you. If that's the case, we're glad you found us! We're not for everyone, and there are a lot of ways to buy yarn. This is ours. We have no interest in being the next big thing. We want to be better.

Cormo
The Cormo was developed in Australia in the 1960s by crossing Corriedales with the exceptional Saxon Merino. The result is a hornless sheep that produces a large yield of very dense yet soft fleece. Our flock has an average micron count of 21.25 yielding a superfine next to skin experience. Available in DK and Worsted weights, both are 3 ply woolen spun for beautiful stitch definition. Meet Dolly Parton, she's our Cormo poster girl!

Farm Friends
Our Farm Friends yarn blends the natural colors of our Finn Sheep & Annie, our rescued Shetland. They are our original pet flock, including Gladys, RBG, Rosa Parks & Minnie Purl, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline. The gorgeous tweedy yarn beautifully blends the soft Finn locks with our targhee/Finn and Annie's cinnamon Shetland wool. For 2022 we offer it in 3 ply Aran weight as well as 2 ply DK. Both are woolen spun and knit into a soft Irish tweedy finish that feels utterly raw and delightful in the hand.

Targhee
Named for the Targhee National Forest, they are an American breed developed in the 1900s in Idaho. This fine wool - dual purpose breed was created by crossing Rambouillet, Corriedale & Lincolns. Our flock has an average micron count of 19.93 and are the most outgoing of all our sheep! The next to skin softness has a great bounce in the 3 ply woolen spun yarn. Available in both DK and Worsted weights. Shown here is Karen, her best friend is Bertha.
