Have you driven past our farm and wonder what it takes to turn the fleece of a sheep into a skein of yarn? Many steps! We love nothing more than educating the public on what it means to be a true sheep to skein company. In this one day intensive you will learn:
- different breeds of sheep found on Mitchell Wool Farm
- difference in fiber produced by the breeds we have
- what time of year we sheer and why
- what goes into sheering
- the many steps beyond sheering involved to turn the lose fiber into hanks of yarn
- you will have a chance to tour the property and interact with the sheep that are feeling social
